Many families are not aware that there are funding options that may help cover therapy services for children in Ontario.

These programs may support services such as:

• Speech Therapy

• Occupational Therapy

• Behavioural Therapy (ABA)

• Psychological Services

Ontario Autism Program (OAP)

Provides funding for children and youth diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Families receive direct funding and can choose their therapy providers.

Private Health Insurance

Many extended health insurance plans reimburse therapy services when provided by registered professionals such as Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Psychotherapists or Social Workers.

Families should verify coverage directly with their insurance provider.

 Special Services at Home (SSAH)

Provides funding to families caring for children with developmental or physical disabilities. Funding may support therapy services and developmental programs.

Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities (ACSD)

Offers financial support to families raising children with severe disabilities to help cover therapy, medical equipment and related expenses.

Preschool Speech and Language Program

Ontario offers publicly funded speech and language services for children from birth to school entry.

Note: Funding eligibility varies depending on each family's circumstances and the child’s needs.
